Balls & Balloons

The Art and Science of Props:

In The YES! YOGA SYSTEM size and fullness of the balls and balloons matter, the freedom and lightness comes when the balls are comfortable and receptive to the sequence of exploration you are discovering. Heidi Goldman has spent 44 years evolving a system using balls of different sizes from Thera-balls to playground balls and even Balloons. YES! Balloons, the prop you didn't know you were missing.  It is all in the sequencing and then soaring and setting you free. It is likely that at some point in the class everyone is doing something different, inquiring, curious by their own inspired action, looking for the subtle graduals of your own inner guidance. Good body mechanics is never sacrificed using this knowledge to go deeper into yoga, movement potential and somatics. 


The heart of YES! Yoga  is the 'Yoga of Inquiry' and 'Inspired Action'. Ever evolving and always changing The Yoga Equipoise System uses the balls and yes! balloons, in a fun and creative way.  You will soon discover the freedom and lightness of being, never sacrificing good body mechanics but not being held to any preconceived idea of what the perfect pose is supposed to look like but inquiring into how it feels and moving from Inspired Action.  Knowing the joy is in the journey.


As Teachers, Yoga Therapists and aspiring teachers we know that no two bodies are alike, so how do we teach a class safely? Are there tools that we can use to support the student and make the poses safer and more beneficial. By understanding good body mechanics and alignment along with some of the beneficial props the 6 B's Blocks, Balls, Balloons, Blankets, Belts and Bolsters of our trade. We can fit the pose to the person (the ergonomics of the pose). Some poses and students need nothing while others need a lot. How do we know  what to do? The Yoga Equipoise System and Heidi Goldman will invite you to explore and discover when and when NOT to use props. Creating a safer environment for our own practice and our students.
