Moving Through Neutral: Experiential Anatomy for Movement and Posture in Asana and Breath focuses on learning how to clinically assess, design and gain the confidence to implement a strategy to individualize a Yoga Therapy Plan for clients and students. “Moving Through Neutral” is by no means static but a dynamic, fluid and active experience in the spine and pelvis which ripples throughout the body. Central to "Moving Through Neutral" is actually being able to identify, it in ourselves and others; what neutral is and when we're in it. This hands-on experiential anatomy course works with partners and in triads practicing, observing and offering feedback to refine our awareness and technique. We will learn sequencing and how to modify the pose to fit the person using, what I call, the 6 B’s - blocks, balls, balloons, blankets, bolsters, and belts. Throughout this course we'll be exploring the freedom and spaciousness in our own practice and integrating these findings in key standing, sitting, twists, forward bends, beginning back bends and restorative poses. Each participant will receive practical, hands-on tools that can be immediately integrated into his/her own unique teaching style and Yoga Therapy Practice.
Heidi Goldman spent the last 44 years developing her Prenatal Tool Kit for Yoga Teachers and Therapist wanting to work with Pregnant Moms. This this 2 ½ day training (20-hours) is filled with valuable and useful hands-on tools, complementing their own particular teaching style in a fun, playful and creative way. You will learn basic anatomy and physiology for each trimester and how to adapt the poses with and without the balls. Yes! Yoga System has spent over 30 years developing these techniques and has even designed a wedge for moms, if they find it hard to lie on their backs. The cornerstone of this work is learning how and when to use props and aids, in what is called, the 6B’s, blocks, balls (Thera-balls and playground balls), balloons, blankets, belts and bolsters. You will learn: key yoga poses, benefits, modifications and teaching cues. Yes! Yoga uses different size balls in a unique and nurturing allowing you to sink, release, and elongate into the pose, feeling supported and experiencing spaciousness and amazing releases. Working with Pregnant moms is a gift that keeps on giving. You will enjoy the confidence these tools offer in your yoga tool kit.
Using the balls and balloons in the way YES! YOGA SYSTEM uses them is safe, amazing and unique, a complement to any class or private therapy session. It is easy to learn and once you get the hang of it, you own creative juices will just start soar. The somatic experience and inquiry and exploration while using the balls and watch your students -light up- will bring you such joy and fulfillment as a yoga teacher and therapist.
BALLOONS - The Prop you didn’t know you were missing
Yes! Yoga -The Yoga Equipoise System would like to introduce you to the prop you didn’t know you were missing – the balloon. Yes! balloons are an incredible tool for any practice and therapy. They are amazing in the way they support, nurture, release, and strengthen, helping you to inquire into new awareness for each individual. Like all of us, but especially the assessible yoga community, the miraculous body has adapted to move in certain ways, which is necessary, but not always beneficial to help stay out of pain and discomfort. Using the balloons and balls in the way Heidi Goldman will teach you allows the body to sink, release and elongate; activating the deep intrinsic muscles while releasing the over used muscles. You can use the balls in any position whether lying down, sitting or standing and any awkward position in between, they are forgiving and receptive in a magical way. As you will discover the balls offer the perfect amount of resistance and comfort to allow you to experience freedom and lightness of being. The balloons are playful, fun and profound in the results they offer. Join Heidi for this creative exploration and see for yourself how, whether in life or in yoga the joy is truly in the journey.
The science and study of Ergonomics and Yoga is a natural fit, they are both mutually interested in inquiring and integrating how the body/mind/emotions work and its causes and effects. Ergonomics is the science of designing the workplace, machines, and work-tasks with the capability and limitations of the human body in mind. This 2 ½ day hands-on training will focus on learning how to clinically assess, design, and gain the confidence to implement a strategy to individualize a Yoga Therapy Plan and class. By broadening your knowledge and understanding of the activities your client performs at home, work and in recreation and how they interface and affect the body and poses, a Yoga Therapist can develop therapeutic program for themselves and for their clients helping to prevent and reduce pain and discomfort on and off the mat.
We will learn basic anatomy and bio-mechanics, assessing the client and creating custom Movement Solutions™ which is a yoga body/mind/somatic approach to the inquiry; We will learn how to use props and aids, in what I call, the 6 B’s: blocks, balls, balloons, blankets, bolsters, and belts. Exploring finding neutral, back injury prevention, and learning the ergonomics of sitting, standing, walking and key yoga poses. Yes! Yoga Systems explores how we move in space finding freedom and spaciousness.
As creator of Yes! Yoga Systems and a Certified Industrial Ergonomists-CIE for over 18 years as well as a certified yoga teacher for more than 43 years and a C-IAYT, I will weave together Insite Ergonomics ™ with Yoga, discovering how each movement, each breath allows us to tap into our own healing energy stream, expanding our own curiosity and delight; noting the tightness, the tension, the resistance and adjusting accordingly, seeing what the body wants now and now, now, experiencing the playfulness, freedom and lightness of being.
Experience the joy and intoxication of Yoga as you dive deeper into your Yoga practice on and off the mat. You are noticing that each moment is an opportunity, a new beginning, a doorway into the unknown, your own “Inspired Action”. Let’s have fun moment by moment, opening up to each new possibility within ourselves, experiencing life as a celebration and saying Yes! to Yoga, playfully using balls of different sizes to support and nourish your poses. Let’s pick up our pallet and paint brush, our clay and sculpt; childlike, curious, empty, receptive, filled with energy; listening to the song in each area of the body, resonating long rhythmic sounds Ahhhh, woooo, hmmmm. Each breath taking you deeper-then soaring into the unknown.
